An honest mechanic with good prices, you can't beat that. I called Cartech on a Saturday in need of an oil change, state inspection, and to diagnose some squeaky brakes. Brought the car in that same day. They were very friendly to deal with and actually asked reasonable questions to try and get to the root of the problem before even touching the car (how often does it squeak, any vibration, etc.). On the spot they told us what it probably was, but said they would call with the diagnosis. Well, a couple hours later they called (I did tell them they could have the car all day) and said my car needed new brake pads (exactly what was predicated). I appreciated that they told me they could resurface my rotors, but that it would be right at the limit, which may cause issues with vibration and result in extra labor to replace them later. They recommended replacement, but certainly were not pushy. I really like a mechanic who will tell me what I NEED to do and make a recommendation on what might be best. They gave me the price, which included the oil change, inspection, and replacement of a tag light that was needed to pass inspection (only $6 installed). All told, the price they gave was equal to the price another well reviewed shop gave me to just replace the brake pads and rotors. An hour later they called and told me all was done. He also told me that he screwed up the quote and that it would actually be $30 less than what he said. So, he had my permission to charge a certain amount and still corrected it to be a lower amount, you have to appreciate that honesty. The oil change was uneventful (as they should be) and reasonably priced. While hard to separate out from the other work done, it was at or below the typical $39 price tag you see at most shops. The card drives better than before (no vibration when braking) and no squeaking. All round a great experience. Also, while I didn't use it, they have a pretty nice waiting room if you need to hang around while they fix your car.
